Couchbase rolls out updates to app development solution

Couchbase announced that Couchbase Capella now fully manages and hosts a backend for mobile and IoT applications called Capella App Services.

The enhanced offering is designed to make it easier for developers to design and deploy fast, resilient mobile apps that sync data between the cloud and devices, allowing apps to work regardless of whether they’re online or offline. line.

The fully managed service is best suited for development teams, helping them save time, effort, and resources by streamlining installation setup, synchronization, and ongoing management of backend services.

Daniele Angeli, CEO and Founder of MOLO17, says, “Mobile capabilities are a key element of our customers’ modern applications, and we selected Couchbase specifically because it is the only database capable of meeting our offline distributed mobile application needs, performance and scale.

“Now with Capella App Services, we get a fully managed cloud database as well as managed mobile synchronization services. This new innovation accelerates our development and helps us use our resources more efficiently to deliver the best mobile apps to our customers. .”

Without built-in and robust two-way synchronization, developers must design and develop this complex functionality themselves to prevent mobile applications from suffering from incorrect or lost data, which could frustrate application end users, delay operations and lead to additional costs, the company states.

Reliability is a critical attribute of today’s modern applications and must be powered by a database that can support backend application services such as synchronization to maintain data integrity and consistency, producing applications you can rely on for mission-critical use cases that require high availability, security, and speed.

Scott Anderson, senior vice president of product management at Couchbase, said, “Organizations need a database that can meet modern performance demands; with Capella, we are uniquely positioned to dramatically improve flexibility, deliver distributed and mobile experiences, and reduce total cost of ownership for customers.

“The number one request we receive is to add our unparalleled mobile services to Capella. By unifying the entire Couchbase product offering under Capella, we are providing the entire Couchbase as a service with a highly competitive platform that makes it easier for developers to build the next big mobile and IoT apps.

The integration of mobile capabilities into Capella means customers can better use Couchbase as a service. This means:

Build for Developers: Capella is a one-stop-shop for developers, who can leverage SQL, SDKs, and broad platform and language support to build fast, resilient mobile apps that sync from the cloud to edge devices , while providing offline data access, peer-to-peer synchronization, and automatic data conflict resolution.

Management for Architects: Deploy and manage DBaaS and Mobile synchronization services through a single interface. Application services connect to edge and mobile devices, making it easier to synchronize data and make it easier for customers to manage their application backend from cloud to edge.

More mobile use cases: Managing the sync gateway through Capella App Services greatly expands the types of business-to-employee and business-to-consumer application use cases that Capella can support, such as games, support to field employees and the customer experience.

Additionally, Couchbase announced that it has extended Capella to Google Cloud, adding multicloud capabilities to its high-performance DBaaS. Developers enjoy maximum flexibility between cloud service providers and can build and scale applications on Google’s cloud infrastructure.
